Restoration goes beyond repair, it rebuilds what time and wear have taken from a rug. Reweaving lost sections, reknotting worn pile, and restoring faded color can return an antique rug to beauty and use, preserving its value for the next generation.

We perform hand reweaving and reknotting, foundation and selvage repair, pile restoration, and color correction. Each project begins with a documented assessment so you understand exactly what the rug needs and what it will cost before we begin.
Reweaving & reknotting
Holes, tears, and areas of lost pile are rebuilt by hand, knot by knot, and color-matched to the surrounding field so the repaired section sits level with the rest of the rug rather than reading as a patch.
Foundation & selvage repair
Warp and weft damage is the structural problem underneath most visible wear. Rebuilding the foundation and the selvage edges stops a weak spot spreading and gives the pile something sound to sit on.
Ends, edges & fringe

A restoration from start to finish
One recent project shows the arc. An oversized Bijar, circa 1890 by its owner’s account, came in loaded with a century of dry soil. It was dusted outdoors until the soil stopped coming, washed by full immersion, and its worn areas secured, and the color that had been hiding under the gray came back.
Where the damage usually starts
Rugs almost always fail at the ends and edges first. Fringe is the exposed end of the rug’s own foundation, so once it starts to unravel the rug loses itself row by row, which is why repairing fringe early keeps the job small.
Bring us a rug at that stage and the work is contained. Left another few years, the same rug needs reweaving across the ends, and the project changes scale. If you are unsure how far along yours is, the rug repair inspection is free and in writing.

Matched to the rug’s value and use
Not every rug needs full restoration. We recommend the level of work that fits the piece, from stabilizing a fragile antique for display to fully restoring a rug for daily use. Rugs needing cleaning first can also be cleaned in the same visit.
That judgment is the point of the assessment. A Certified Master Rug Cleaner looks at construction, fiber, dye stability, and what the rug is actually for, then tells you which repairs are structural and which are optional, in writing, before you commit to anything.

Restoration timelines depend on the work, so we do not quote one until the rug has been inspected. Cleaning alone runs 7 to 10 business days for most rugs; hand reweaving and reknotting take longer, and you get a realistic date with the written estimate. Pickup, delivery, and the inspection itself are free across the Treasure Valley, and we accept rugs shipped to us from anywhere in the country.
