Q: How can rug pads protect my floor?
A: Rug pad always protects your rug and the floor from scratches, etc. However our PET URINE BARRIER rug pad protects your expensive hardwood, luxury vinyl tile, stone, concrete and other hard surface flooring, too. The biggest danger to your flooring is created by the pets we love. Q: How can I get my rugs to stay in place?
A: Rug pad is an excellent way to keep your rugs in place. Pads resolve the issue of the rug moving, curling up and more. Fiber Specialties offers a complete line of rug pads to meet your every need.
Q: How do I know what rug pad I need?
A: Fiber Specialties has a complete line of rugs pads to suit all rug types and situations.Our Eco Value pad is a non slip pad only and does NOT have the waterproof membrane. our next 3 products contain PET URINE BARRIER to protect your floors! Eco Supreme is a thick, plush product for areas where you desire extra cushioning. Eco Preferred is a mid-weight pad with extra cushioning for flatter rugs, runners, etc. Eco by Design is an excellent light weight, thin pad for areas needing clearance, ie foyers, mud rooms, hallways, etc. Each of these products is Eco friendly, non-allergenic and sustainable. Q: Will your rug pads work with Radiant heat flooring systems?
A: Almost all of our pads here at Fiber Specialties are radiant heat compatible, with excellent heat pass through! Make sure you let us know about your heated floors!
Q: What rug pad is good for people with allergies?
A: All of Fiber Specialties main rug pad line are non-allergenic, non-toxic, no odors and VOC free. Our pads are Eco friendly and have obtained the Green Label Plus certification by CRI, Carpet and Rug Institute.
Q: How long will rug pad last?
A: Fiber Specialties pad are warrantied for the life of the rug to not break down. This warranty does not cover cuts or damage to the membrane, always make sure you clean the floor of debris before you put the pad down.
Q: Can I wash rug pad?
A: Our pads can be cleaned by a professional rug cleaner time after time. Pads purchased from us get washed for free when brought with a rug to be washed! Not all other brands of pads can be washed, so please bring it in so we can see it.
Q: Will the pad bunch up under carpet?
A: No! Our pad is designed to grip the floor and the rug. This allows it to stay in place and hold the rug.
Q: Does it smell funny like bike tire or a new shower curtain?
A: That’s called off-gassing and occurs when certain chemicals are added to Latex and Rubber. Our pads have no chemicals added during processing and are odor & off-gassing free. Non-allergenic. Non-toxic. Eco friendly. Recyclable. Sustainable. Our pads contain no Latex or Rubber!
Q: Do I need different types based on the size of the rug?
A: Rug type and application can take precedence when choosing a pad , however for the most part any pad you chose can be used with all size rugs. It simply depends on the feel you want when walking on the pad.
Q: Is it environmentally safe?
A: Yes, it has been tested and Green Label Plus certified by the Carpet and Rug Institute. With no odor or off-gassing, non-allergenic, non-toxic, recycled, recyclable, and environmentally sustainable it’s the safest pad on the market.
Q: Does it stick to the carpet or floor?
A: No, absolutely not. That problem is caused by clay or other fillers added to the latex and rubber in other lower quality pads, again, our pads contain no Latex or Rubber!
Q: Will it damage my Wood, Tile, Laminate, VCT, VLP floor?
A: No, In fact our Pad is the preferred choice material for all of the above. Flooring manufacturers are now saying that Latex and rubber pads will stain/ damage VCT and VLP flooring, and again, our pads contain no Latex or Rubber!
Q: My long runner in my hallway keeps moving and I have tried rug pads before.
A: There has always been an issue with long runners moving. Our products provide great anti slip properties but depending on your floor type, you may need something else, please talk to us about options! Always make sure your floor and pad surface are clean and free of dust or debris for safest and best results!
Q: How do I measure what size I need?
A: Since rugs vary in size from what they are sold at, we always suggest to use a tape measure for exact measurements. Once you know the dimensions, rug pad is usually cut 1” to 2.5" shorter on all sizes to allow the rug to lay down on the edges. Please keep in mind, Most handmade rugs are asymmetrical and may need to be trimmed for exact fit. We custom cut every pad here at Fiber Specialties.
Q: Is it safe for the elderly or people who may shuffle their feet?
A: That is one of the best reasons to purchase rug pad. The rug drapes over the side of the pad creating a ramp or lower profile threshold and also protects the rug from sliding, bunching, wrinkling.
